Turn 1 at Indy

USGP at Indianapolis 2000, September 24, 2000

Sunday. Race day. It was cold and overcast in Indianapolis. My friend and his Seimans connection had some seats located on the banked turn. But first to get to the track we all climbed into a bus and had a police escort to get us to the track in time. So cool.

250,000+ people in attendence. This was the largest crowd to ever attend a Formula 1 race, eclipsing the mark of 210,000 set at the Australian Grand Prix (Adelaide) in 1995. Who says F1 isn't popular in the states?

Me and DC's old ride.

Seeing that Ferrari and Gurney Eagle was a real treat.

A couple of cars from 1967.

Dan Gurney's Eagle Westlake.

Another classic F1 Ferrari.

Niki Lauda's 1976 312 T2.

The Williams FW 22.

Powered by BMW.

Cockpit, nice ride! Jenson Button's first F1 car.

The historic F1 cars out racing.

Man I need a new camera.

Very cool to see.

It was my frist time seeing these historic F1s running all at once.

Somehow I managed to get close to watch them come back in.

Nice.

Dang hat got in my shot, but still, Lauda's old F1 Ferrari.

And of course the ALFA broke down. Oh ALFA...

Huge crowd. It was chilly.

Coudy, damp, and 55 ° F

Man I need a new camera.

Mika was gaining on Schumi every lap,

but then his engine blew right in front of us.

Mika retired

and Schumi goes on for the win.

A happy day for this Ferrari fan.

The two Ferrari's coming in side by side

Michael and Reubens, good job!

The win was the 42nd of Schumacher's career.

It also helped Schumacher finally gain the upper hand in his three-year struggle with Häkkinen as the win put him in a position to clinch his third Driver's title, the first for a Ferrari driver since Scheckter in 1979.

Back in the office unpacking gifts.

I got Gary a McLaren shirt, I think he liked it.
